PORTLAND — Health Advocacy groups Healthy Portland and Healthy Casco Bay are accepting applications from area businesses for grants to promote healthy workplaces.
The organizations will be giving ten $250 grants to companies that work to improve health. Companies can qualify by encouraging employees to exercise, providing on-site health screenings or creating a healthy food policy, for example.
Applications must be received by Dec. 1 and can be found in the news section of Healthy Casco Bay’s website
The groups say healthy workplaces contribute to reduced health care costs, improved employee morale and productivity and decreased absenteeism.
Healthy Portland and Healthy Casco Bay are programs funded by the city of Portland’s Public Health Division.
