Today’s winter storm, which is expected to dump several inches of snow onto the region before possibly changing to sleet and freezing rain, prompted high school officials to postpone their scheduled basketball games.
Many of the games were postponed to Wednesday. Those include the following boys’ basketball games:
Old Orchard Beach at Wells; Oxford Hills at Morse; South Portland at Portland and Yarmouth at Lake Region.
Girls games postponed to Wednesday include:
Boothbay at Lisbon; Morse at Oxford Hills, Portland at South Portland; Wells at Old Orchard Beach and Westbrook at Thornton Academy.
Other postponements and make-up dates include:
Schoolboy
Noble at Windham (Jan. 22, 4:30 p.m.); Nokomis at Medomak Valley, (Jan. 25, 7 p.m.); Sacopee Valley at Buckfield (Jan. 24, 6:30 p.m.)
Schoolgirl
Greater Portland Christian at Waynflete (Jan. 25, 4 p.m.); Medomak Valley at Nokomis (Jan. 25, 7 p.m.) Sacopee Valley at Buckfield (Jan. 24, 5 p.m.) and Windham at Noble (Jan. 22, 6:30 p.m.)
The boys basketball game between Thornton Academy and Westbrook has been postponed, but no make-up date was determined yet.
In addition, the University of Southern Maine men’s and women’s games at Plymouth (N.H.) State have been postponed to Wednesday.
