Ann Veronica, a handbag and tote bag retail store, has opened a second location on Route 1 in York.

The 8-year-old company, launched by Cape Elizabeth resident Ann Perrino, already has a store on Shore Road in Cape Elizabeth.

The company sells handmade and hand-printed bags for women, as well as apparel and accessories.  The bags are designed by local artists.

The York store, which opened a few months ago, is in the Meadowbrook Plaza at 647 Route 1.

Perrino said the new store will help expand retail sales as the company exits the wholesale business. Ann Veronica has sold goods to national retailers like Bloomingdales and Anthropologie.

Perrino is planning a grand opening event at the York store sometime this spring.
