KITTERY — A car crash this morning in Kittery has knocked out power to more than 1,200 customers.

A motorist lost control at Route 1 and Lewis Road at 10:30 a.m. and knocked over a utility pole, authorities said. The driver was not injured but power was cut to a major part of the town.

Central Maine Power Co. reports that 1,282 customers are without power. The company is on the scene but must wait for other utilities that use the pole to respond before the repairs can be completed.
