AUGUSTA — Legislative votes on a Maine supplemental budget for the current fiscal year are expected this week, now that the budget has received unanimous committee support.
The Appropriations Committee late Friday approved the spending update for the year ending June 30. The budget is expected to receive quick House and Senate support. It could come up for votes Tuesday.
House Speaker Robert Nutting and Senate President Kevin Raye, both Republicans, released a joint statement congratulating the Appropriations Committee for its bipartisan support for Gov. Paul LePage’s budget, which pays down a large portion of the state’s Medicaid debt to hospitals, conforms state and federal tax provisions and accounts for increased enrollments in MaineCare, the state’s Medicaid program.
LePage will soon unveil a budget package for the two years starting July 1.
