PORTLAND — U.S. Sen. Susan Collins still plans to return to Maine on most weekends despite buying a new home in the District of Columbia.

Spokesman Kevin Kelley confirmed reports that Collins sold her Washington home and purchased a larger four-bedroom townhouse near her Capitol Hill office.

She and Thomas Daffron, a friend and former colleague, purchased the home together for $705,000 as an investment property. It’ll serve as her home-away-from-home when she’s not in Bangor, Maine.
