Applications almost due for wilderness program
Friends of Baxter State Park invites Maine high school sophomores and juniors to submit applications to participate in the 3rd annual Maine Youth Wilderness Leadership Program at Baxter State Park.
The program is scheduled for Aug. 6 to 14. The application deadline is Tuesday. Ten selected students, along with two guides, will explore the streams, mountains, lakes and forests of the wilderness preserve.
There are no fees. Friends of Baxter State Park receives funding for the program from the Quimby Family Foundation and assistance from the Chewonki Foundation. For more information and an application, go online to www.friendsofbaxter.org.

Students may enter Sunday River giveaway
Sunday River ski resort is inviting students from middle schools and high schools throughout the U.S. to compete in its ultimate Get Schooled Giveaway.
Fifty winning students will take over a wing of the Ski Dorm for two days of snow-filled fun March 25-27.
To enter, students must submit the reason they and 49 of their closest friends deserve a field trip to Sunday River, by 5 p.m. Feb. 28. For more information, go to www.sundayriver.com/Contest/DormGiveaway.html.
