FREEPORT — Carolyn C. Ruth, 76, died Feb. 12 at Parkview Adventist Medical Center surrounded by her family.

Born in Durham in May 28, 1934, a daughter of John W. and Edith Lent Carll, she attended local schools, and graduated from Freeport High School in 1953.

On Sept. 6, 1956, she married Harry I. Ruth in Freeport.

She worked for Freeport Shoe, H. E. Davis, and Eastland Shoe, where she was employed for 20 years, until retiring in 2001.

Her hobbies included collecting coins, western music and movies.

She was generous, kindhearted, and proud of her children and grandchildren.

Her husband Harry predeceased her on Sept. 16, 1978. She was also predeceased by a brother, Kenneth C. Carll in 1981, two sisters, Arline G. Cullum in 2005 and Geraldine F. Dall in 2010.

Surviving are her two daughters, Kathryn L. Ruth of Pittsfield, Susan M. Baker and her husband and special son-in-law, Gary of Freeport, and a son, Eric M. Ruth of Lisbon Falls; a sister, Ethel M. Daniels of Durham; and grandsons, Richard and Justin Baker, both serving in the U.S. Navy, and Joseph Baker of Freeport.

Friends are invited to visit from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15 at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick.  The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16 at the funeral home.
