BRUNSWICK — The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office says a fire that injured three people in Brunswick was an accident.

The Brunswick fire chief says one man found in the parking lot of the apartment building Wednesday evening suffered burns while two others who had to be rescued from the second floor suffered smoke inhalation. There is no word on the condition of the injured.

Officials say unattended food on a stove is what caused the fire.

WMTW-TV says the apartment house had 12 units and 17 people were displaced by the fire.
