SOUTH PORTLAND — The culinary arts program at Southern Maine Community College is now accredited by the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation, college officials announced today.
To receive accreditation, the faculty submitted a report based on a self-study and a three-member accreditation team visited the college to ensure that the program meets certain professional standards.
SMCC’s culinary arts program is the only one in Maine to be accredited by this organization, college officials said.
Accreditation provides access to educational programs, certifications, competitions and networking opportunities designed to enhance professional growth for current and future chefs.
