Lily Bistro chefs, owners set to feed New Yorkers

Lily Bistro, 421 Main St., has been invited to cook at the James Beard House again, this time in a solo performance.

(The previous visit, in 2009, was a duet with Suzuki Sushi Bar.)

Lynette Mosher and Robert Krajewski, the chefs and owners, will go to New York June 6 and prepare five farm-to-table courses featuring Maine foods.

The first course will feature the season’s first baby vegetables from Morning Dew Farm in Newcastle. The second course will be sweet pea gnocchi, Maine lobster, lobster consomme, peas and their shoots. The third course will be focus on island lamb and feature ingredients from Dandelion Spring Farm in Washington.

The cheese for the fourth course will come from Hahn’s End in Phippsburg, and the ingredients for hors d’oeuvres will be sourced from Ararat Farms in Lincolnville. Some of the ingredients for the dessert course will come from Beth’s Farm Market in Warren.

Butcher shop fundraiser to benefit Kyle St. Clair

For every pound of steak tips sold on Tuesdays between now and March 22, The Meat House will donate $1 per pound to Kyle St. Clair and his family.

Kyle St. Clair, 6, was born prematurely and spent the first nine months of his life in Maine Medical Center’s neonatal intensive care unit. He has lung disease and a disease of the muscles in his digestive system. Kyle lost the use of his stomach when he was 3 years old, and now has an intravenous line that pumps nutrition into his body. He has had 14 surgeries.

The Meat House is located at 450 Payne Road.

PORTLAND

Exchange Street bistro to host wine tasting

15 Exchange Bistro, 15 Exchange St., will hold a First Friday art walk wine tasting from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday.

The tasting will feature Spanish wines and include free tapas and an art display.

March 18 event to offer taste of Russian cooking

A Russian cooking demonstration and dinner is coming to St. Patrick’s Church, 1392 Congress St., on March 18.

The event, co-sponsored by Catholic Charities Refugee & Immigration Services, will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and costs $10 in advance or $15 at the door.
