BANGOR — Maine’s new education commissioner is continuing his statewide “listening tour” with a stop in Bangor to meet with educators, parents and others and get ideas about how to improve Maine’s schools.

Today, Stephen Bowen  will visit the United Technologies Center, where he will stop in classrooms and talk with students and teachers. He’ll later meet with superintendents from Penobscot and Piscataquis counties and hold a public forum in the evening to hear from parents, teachers and others with an interest in the state’s educational system.

The stop is the second on what Bowen is calling a “listening tour” to hear how things are going in schools and what can be done for improvement. He plans to visit nine superintendent regions during his first 100 days on the job.
