Book Shed open for season

The Book Shed, 127 Staples St., will open for the season Saturday, selling reading materials for all ages from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Store hours thereafter are 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays and 9 a.m. to noon on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, weather permitting.

Proceeds will directly benefit Libby Library programs. For more details, call 934-4351.

School presents ‘The Hobbit’

School Around Us students will perform “The Hobbit” at 7 p.m. Friday and at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church on Route 1.

Middle School Spanish event

Regional School Union 21 will host a Spanish Night at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Kennebunk High School on Fletcher Street.

The event will showcase works of fifth- grade students from Mildred L. Day Memorial School in Arundel, The Sea Road School in Kennebunk and the Consolidated School in Kennebunkport, as it relates to all things Spanish, including art, short skits of traditional Hispanic folklore, cultural dances, music and games. All are welcome to attend.

North Parish Congregational Church will host a scrapbooking event celebrating its 225th anniversary from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at its UCC fellowship hall, 893 Main St.

Fiddler Molskyon to play

The Opera House at Boothbay Harbor, at 86 Townsend Ave., will host a performance by old-time fiddler Bruce Molskyon at 8 p.m. Friday, offering an eclectic mix of cowboy ballads, calypso-imbued blues, gospel songs and dance tunes on fiddle, guitar and banjo. Merryspring Nature Center, 30 Conway Road, will host a “Making A Green Space Even Greener” workday to clean up and make improvements to its trail system from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. The spruce-up will be followed by a Green Fair with food and activities until 4 p.m. courtesy of Plants Unlimited.

Garden club spring meeting

The Webhannet Garden Club will hold its spring meeting at 10 a.m. Friday at the Wells-Ogunquit Senior Center, at 300 Post Road, Moody.

Members will discuss upcoming activities and the schedule for maintaining the Bridge of Flowers and other public plantings. The meeting is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
