I-95 lane blocked as truck rolls over, spilling grain
An 18-wheeler rolled over at 6:40 a.m. Friday, blocking the southbound travel lane of the Maine Turnpike.
The accident sent truck driver Nelson Plourde, 51, of Gardiner to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta with a severe cut on the elbow, according to Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine State Police, who are investigating the crash.
McCausland said the truck had just loaded grain at Blue Seal Feeds on Riverside Drive and overturned as it was entering the southbound lane at I-95 Exit 113.
Some grain spilled on the highway.
Trooper Richard Plourde — no relation to the driver — said no charges are anticipated.

Record Store Day includes Bull Moose performances
It’s time to pay homage to the hometown record store.
Record Store Day, the idea of Chris Brown of Maine-based Bull Moose, kicks off today. Bull Moose is holding in-store performances as well as offering deals at all of its stores.
The first Record Store Day was held in 2007.

Twenty-six students win awards for Latin test scores
Twenty-six students enrolled in Latin classes at Portland High School recently won national awards based on their scores on the National Latin Exam, school officials announced Friday.
Maddie Holton won a gold medal. Silver medal winners were Cody Cook, Evan Peaco, Margaret Adham, Charlie Gauvin and Ryan Dixon.
The magna cum laude winners were: Jack Swann, Annette Denekas, Monica Reno, Tiffany Harlow, Alli Briggs and Meghan Kelly.
The following students won cum laude honors: Will Chapman, Clare Kenny, Kiril Slussky, Isabel Walter, Jack Carroll, Anthony Green, Tyler Strauss, Jesse Lupica-Nowlin, Rachel Waterhouse, Brett Howell, Emma Chance, Justin Very, Agnes Jackson and Boutavee Kim.
For next year, 276 students have enrolled in Latin classes at Portland High, and 66 students are taking Greek. The classes, taught by Michelle Tucci and Philip Thibault, are open to students from the district’s two other high schools, Deering and Casco Bay.

Canoe race will cause delays, detour at bridge
An annual spring rite in Maine, the Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race, is set for this weekend.
Bangor police remind motorists that today’s event will cause some minor traffic delays and a detour at the Six Mile Falls Bridge on Broadway.
Inbound traffic on Broadway, or Route 15, will be diverted at Six Mile Falls onto the Finson Road to Ohio Street between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Signs will be posted to assist motorists.
Motorists are asked to use caution when approaching the bridge area, which will be crowded.
