KENDUSKEAG — Electricity has been restored to thousands of homes and businesses that lost it after an SUV struck a utility pole in Kenduskeag.

Penobscot County Sheriff’s Deputy Steven Saucier says a woman and her daughter suffered minor injuries in the accident Wednesday morning. Seventeen-year-old Monica Deyro, of Corinth, and 40-year-old Nicole Hartley were treated and released from Eastern Maine Medical Center.

Roads were covered with sleet when their car hit a utility pole. The pole snapped, causing power lines to droop and causing a 10-minute delay in removing the two from the car while power was shut off.

The Bangor Daily News reports that Bangor Hydro restored power to more than 2,000 customers in Kenduskeag and surrounding towns later Wednesday.
