BANGOR — Officials say Sen. Olympia Snowe’s office in Bangor had to be evacuated because of a questionable package.

Spokesman Ken Lundberg said staff followed safety procedures when a suspicious package was found in Friday’s mail. He declined to say why the package was deemed suspicious.

The Bangor Daily News says part of the Margaret Chase Smith Federal Building was evacuated, but not the entire building. Police were notified this afternoon.
