BANGOR — A 29-year-old Maine man has been charged with murder for allegedly killing a man who was found lying in a Bangor driveway.

William Hall was charged today in the death of 28-year-old Melvin Abreu. Abreu’s body was found at about 5 a.m. June 9 outside an apartment house where Hall lived.

Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said an autopsy found that Abreu had extensive injuries to his head, neck and upper chest, as well as evidence he had been strangled. The Maine Medical Examiner’s Office says the cause and manner of death have yet to be determined.

Edwards said Hall and Abreu knew each other, bu he didn’t know the nature of their relationship.

Hall is being held without bail at the Penobscot County Jail.
