July 1 is the deadline for applications to Androscoggin Bank’s community-giving program called ABCommunity, which will award grants as large as $5,000 to nonprofit organizations.

To be eligible, organizations must support community activities focused on the arts, education, environment, health, social services or animal welfare, and community developments that help the environment, health or neighborhoods.

Applicants must demonstrate how the requested grants would sustain or enhance their programs.

This is the second year in which the bank will award the grants to Maine-based organizations. With $40,000 is available per year, ABCommunity Grants is one part of Androscoggin Bank’s Bank on Community effort.

Applications will be accepted by email or mail. Any applications that aren’t received by July 1 will not be considered until January.

Past recipients include Junior Achievement of Maine, Androscoggin Dance, LARK Society, Midcoast Symphony Orchestra, Catholic Charities of Maine, Deertree Foundation, Living with Peace, and Independence Association.
