DESPITE CONSTRUCTION, thousands gathered between thunderstorms for the 2011 Montreal Jazz Festival from June 25 to July 4.

The annual event features live music of all genres, including blues, bluegrass, rock, world and more. Other art forms include street performance, dance and visual art.

The festival had a notable New England presence.
