NEW FACES

• Paul J. Myer was named interim chief executive officer of Mitokine Bioscience, a biopharmaceutical firm in Hancock. Myer, the executive-in-residence at the University of Maine Business School, will initially serve through September 2011.

Darcy Dow and Tony White joined Gifford’s Ice Cream.

Dow, of Winslow, joined Gifford’s in Skowhegan as a controller and accounting manager. She had worked for Macdonald Page & Co. LLC for the past five years.

White was named a regional sales manager. He worked for a European gourmet food importing company for the past 10 years. 

Laurie A. Warzinski was hired as vice president and chief lending officer at cPort Credit Union in Portland. Warzinski has 10 years of mortgage and underwriting experience. She was previously with Sanford Institution for Savings.

The following individuals joined Back on Track Chiropractic in South Portland, which recently expanded its services to include esthetics, skin care and massage therapy.

Brianna Grant Rothman, licensed esthetician; Andrea Littlefield Robinson, licensed massage therapist; and Amanda O’Connor, licensed massage therapist.

Rothman, of Cumberland, has more than six years of experience and specializes in acne and problematic skin. She previously worked at The Makeup Shop in South Portland.

Robinson, of Newry, has more than eight years of experience in Swedish, deep tissue, and injury rehabilitation. She previously worked for Massagecraft & Acupuncture in Biddeford.

O’Connor, of Portland, has more than eight years of experience in deep tissue massage and work/sports injury treatment. She worked previously with Raymond Chiropractic in Portland.

David Doll joined Putney Inc. as senior vice president of business development. Doll has more than 27 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, primarily in the human generics sector. He worked previously at Impax Laboratories Inc., Merck & Co. Inc. and Teva Pharmaceuticals USA.

Charles Wolfe joined Hurley Travel Experts as senior travel adviser. Wolfe has been in the travel business since 1993 and has worked all over the world, including an eight-month stint in Ireland. 

Ryan Dawson joined Dawson, Smith, Purvis & Bassett P.A., an accounting firm in Portland. Dawson recently graduated from the University of Maine with degrees in accounting and finance. 

Suzanne Zimmerman, a certified nurse midwife, joined Mid Coast Medical Group-Women’s Health Care. Zimmerman, of Bowdoinham, has worked as a nurse midwife at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta for the past three years. 

Susan Murphy joined SurePoint Reinsurance Advisors in Portland as an assistant vice president and manager of account services. Murphy was hired in March and has over 25 years experience in the insurance industry.

David Rowbottom also joined SurePoint as an assistant vice president and actuary. He was hired in April and has eight years of experience in the insurance industry. 

Julie Slade was hired as director of the spa at The Samoset in Rockport. Slade previously owned Elegant Nails in Camden, where she was the massage therapist, esthetician and directly involved in the day-to-day management.

Elissa Burke and Kate Carter were hired at Tilson Technology Management.

Burke joined the company as a senior consultant in the firm’s information technology and information security group.

Carter was named project administrator for Tilson’s information technology and information security group. 

Doug Rowe joined BerryDunn, CPAs and Management Consultants as a senior consultant. Rowe will work in its government consulting group, specializing in internet technology and management consulting. He was previously with Loryx Systems.

PROMOTIONS

Josh Bartlett was promoted to the sales team at Agren Appliance and Television in Auburn. Bartlett, of New Gloucester, previously served as parts manager at the same location. He joined Agren in 2007.

Jennifer Novicki was promoted to a business account executive at U.S. Cellular for Portland and southern Maine. Novicki, of South Portland, was a sales support specialist for the past seven years. She is currently a student at Southern Maine Community College where she is seeking her associate degree in business administration. 

Craig Guerrette was promoted to controller at Reed & Reed Inc. Guerrette joined the company in 2002 as assistant controller.

AWARDS

The Maine Women’s Policy Center recently recognized Annie Houle of South Portland with its Liz Crandall Leadership Award. Houle is national director of campus and community initiatives for the WAGE Project. Her role is to provide training and guidance for college students and community groups working to eliminate the wage gap through effective salary negotiation, the news release said.

GrowSmart Maine recently unveiled its new website, www.growsmartmaine.org. The website was funded by a grant from the Old Bug Light Foundation and will enable visitors to engage in discussions, find recent news and blog postings, utilize community planning toolkits as well as sign up for newsletters and advocacy alerts. 

Mercy Hospital in Portland was recognized by the Maine State Employee Health Commission as the only Tier 1 hospital in Greater Portland. This recognition establishes Mercy as a preferred provider for 40,000 state workers and their dependents. 

Brian McGrory, M.D., was named one of 70 Outstanding Hip Surgeons and Specialists by Becker’s Orthopedic, Spine & Pain Management Review.

McGrory was recognized for his leadership at Maine Medical Center’s Joint Replacement Center and other national organizations.
