The Maine State Optimist Championships were held at Portland Yacht Club on Aug. 9 and 10 and featured a couple of local champions. Ian MacDiarmid of the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club was first. Falmouth’s Caleb Robinson (second from right) placed fourth and Yarmouth’s Ben Palmer (far right) came in fifth. Both local boys sail from the PYC. Other local finishers included Cameron Loncoski of Falmouth, seventh; Emmitt Zinn of Falmouth, eighth; Audrey Morin of Falmouth, ninth; Eric Heilshorn of Falmouth, 11th; Cooper Siepert of Cape Elizabeth, 12th; Elizabeth Babcock of North Yarmouth, 19th; and George Holt of Cumberland, 25th, in his first regatta.
