BANGOR — Congressman Mike Michaud is wrapping up his four-day “Make it in Maine” tour visiting manufacturers to get their ideas on what the federal government should be doing to help manufacturers.

Michaud on Thursday will visit Maine Commercial Tire in Hermon before hosting a round-table discussion in Bangor to hear about challenges manufacturers are facing from imports, technological advances, access to capital and more.

Earlier this week, Michaud visited manufacturers in Auburn, South Paris, Oxford, Winslow, Skowhegan, Presque Isle, Houlton, Oakfield and Hermon.

During his tour, Michaud announced plans to introduce a bill in Congress to requiring the Department of Defense to buy only American-made athletic footwear for military personnel. He made his announcement at the New Balance footwear plant in Skowhegan.
