BATH — A former Bath Iron Works employee faces sentencing after pleading guilty to stealing nearly two tons of copper cable from the company.
Dean Daigle of Auburn will be sentenced later this month after pleading guilty last week to felony theft.
The 45-year-old Daigle was charged with taking scrap metal copper cables from BIW property, cutting them into sections and carrying them in buckets to his truck.
Bath police told The Times Record of Brunswick that Daigle sold the cable to a scrap metal dealer. More than 3,600 pounds were recovered.
Police said Daigle will be sentenced to serve six months in prison and pay restitution of more than $9,000 as part of a plea agreement.
