AUGUSTA — A light schedule of legislative confirmation hearings to end the week will usher in a tidal wave of activity on scores of appointments and other matters early next week.

The upsurge in State House action comes in advance of Tuesday’s special session, in which the agenda includes congressional reapportionment, bath salts legislation and 91 confirmation votes on nominees for various boards and commissions.

Today, the Marine Resources Committee holds confirmation hearings for Jennifer Bichrest and Sebastian Belle for appointment to the Marine Resources Advisory Council.

On Monday, the Appropriations Committee takes up a half dozen bond issue proposals and other committees consider 48 nominations. Among them are Peter Mills as executive director of the Maine Turnpike Authority and Patricia Aho for commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection.
