The Hammerhead Wrestling Club will hold an open house from 5 to 7:30 p.m. today at York High School. The club is a new program for wrestlers ages 6 to 18 that practices Tuesdays and Thursdays. The club provides instruction in amateur folkstyle and freestyle wrestling and recognizes progress with award belts.

Tryouts for the Maine Lightning baseball program, for players between age 9 to 15, will be held Oct. 2 and 4 at the Cheverus High junior varsity baseball field on Washington Avenue in Portland. The program, run by Mike D’Andrea, will hold three separate tryouts: on Oct. 2 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. (players 12-under, 11-under and 10-under) and from 4:30-6:30 p.m. (13U and 14U); and then on Oct. 4 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. (15U). Rosters will include no more than 13 position players.

Maine Roller Derby will hold its fourth annual Wicked vs. Good exhibition bout at 6 p.m., Oct. 8 at the Portland Expo.
