YORK – Tim Lavallee of Cape Elizabeth and Liam Langaas of York traded first-half goals as the Western Maine Conference rivals played to a 1-1 draw in a boys’ soccer game Friday.
The Capers (5-2-2), ranked fourth in Western Class A, took the lead when Lavallee scored off a pass from Blake Barritt. York (7-1-2), the top-ranked team in Western Class B, drew even when Langaas converted a Brian Mendoza pass with 15 minutes left in the half.
Cape’s Austin Andrews made 10 saves. Nate Diffin stopped three shots for York.
CHEVERUS 4, WESTBROOK 2: Eliot Maker scored the go-ahead goal off a corner kick from Sterling Weatherbie with 10 minutes left as the Stags (6-2) turned back the Blue Blazes (2-6-1) at Portland.
Nick Melville put Cheverus up 2-1 in the first 10 minutes of the second half, but Joe Quinlan answered for Westbrook 10 minutes later.
Alexander Hoglund and Tyler Friedman also scored for the Stags. Kyle Gaudreau had the Blazes’ other goal.
PORTLAND 5, MASSABESIC 1: Guled Hussain-Ali and Tim Rovnak each scored twice to lead the Bulldogs (7-1) past the Mustangs (1-8) at Waterboro.
Alain Tuyishime added a goal for Portland. Hunter Duncan scored for Massabesic.
CAMDEN HILLS 3, MT. VIEW 0: Malcolm Steele had a goal and two assists as the Windjammers (8-0) beat the Mustangs (7-2) at Rockport.
Andrew Flanagan added a goal and an assist, and Sam Predham had a goal.
LINCOLN ACADEMY 1, NOKOMIS 0: Bo McLain scored midway through the first half off an assist from Kyle O’Brien to give the Eagles (4-4-1) a win in Newport.
WAYNFLETE 2, NYA 1: The Flyers (6-0-3) took advantage an own goal to to take an early lead and go on to beat the Panthers (4-4-2) at Yarmouth.
DJ Nicholas tied the game for North Yarmouth Academy before Peabo Knoth scored the winning goal for Waynflete.
Waynflete goalie Zander Majercik stopped 17 shots.
OAK HILL 2, MORSE 1: Trevor Samson scored with about 10 minutes left as the Raiders beat the Shipbuilders at Wales.
Dalton Burns scored from Jamiel Kidd as Oak Hill (3-6) took a 1-0 lead. Cody Snyder tied it for Morse (5-3-1).

GREELY 2, FALMOUTH 1: Audrey Parolin assisted Sammi Toorish and Leah Young on first-half goals to lead the Rangers (9-1) over the Yachtsmen (6-2-1) at Falmouth.
Caitlin Bucksbaum scored for Falmouth.
SOUTH PORTLAND 1, BONNY EAGLE 0: Emily Masters scored from Jenna Wing with 11:40 left in the first half, and Domonique Smith made 19 saves to lead the Red Riots (5-3-1) to a win over the Scots (3-7) at Standish.
CHEVERUS 5, WESTBROOK 0: Sadie Lyons provided three goals for the Stags (7-0-1) in a win over the Blue Blazes (1-8) at Westbrook.
Lyons scored a pair of goals in the first half and made it 3-0 early in the second. Allison Thomas and Eden Monson also scored.
OLD ORCHARD BEACH 3, TRAIP ACADEMY 2: Abby Twohig scored two goals and assisted on another by Abby Dubois to lead the Seagulls (5-4) over the Rangers (4-6) at Kittery.
Dubois assisted on both of Twohig’s goals.
RANGELEY 3, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 2: Shelby Elmes found the net with 3:15 remaining to lift the Lakers (3-4) past the Lions (0-7) at Portland.
Elaine Beech’s second goal of the game early in the second half gave GPCS a 2-1 lead.
CAMDEN HILLS 5, MT. VIEW 0: Caroline Matteo, Lexi Doudera, Kristina Alex, Jackey Richards and Leah Smith each had a goal as the Windjammers (5-2-2) beat the Mustangs (0-9) at Thorndike.
FIELD HOCKEY
SACOPEE VALLEY 2, WAYNFLETE 0: Chelsey Burnell had a goal and an assist to lead the Hawks (7-2-1) past the Flyers (4-6) at South Hiram.
Burnell set up Mya Richmond five minutes into the second half. Burnell added the second goal five minutes later off an Elizabeth Moulton feed.
Ashley Pingree recorded four saves for the shutout. Flyers goalie Kailina Mills finished with seven saves.
WESTBROOK 1, THORNTON ACADEMY 0: Emily Blackmore tallied the only goal with 5:29 left in the first half as the Blue Blazes (8-2) edged the Trojans (3-7) at Saco.
Westbrook goalie Maryssa Arsenault had six saves. Thornton’s Gabrielle Capozzi made 12 saves.
PORTLAND 3, BONNY EAGLE 1: The Bulldogs (6-4-1) scored three goals in the first half and held on to defeat the Scots (1-7-2) at Standish.
Eleni Anderson got the Bulldogs started just 1:12 into the contest. Kristina Brown made it 2-0 and Gabriela Cardona extended the lead.
Lexi Vayda scored for the Scots in the second half.
MASSABESIC 6, MCAULEY 1: Jackie Guillemette and Sam Emmons each scored two goals to lead the Mustangs (9-1) over the Lions (3-7-1) at Portland.
Kaitlyn Bergeron and Allie Braley each added goals for Massabesic.
Lulu Hawkes scored McAuley’s goal.
SANFORD 4, SOUTH PORTLAND 0: Caroline L’Heureux scored three times to lead Sanford (9-1-1) over visiting South Portland (1-10).
Janelle Cannon added a goal and an assist.
GORHAM 3, BIDDEFORD 0: Jaime Hansen had a goal and an assist to help the Rams (3-7-1) defeat the Tigers (2-8-1) at Gorham.
Hansen set up the first goal, by Allie Sturgis 25 minutes into the match. Evelyn Viernes converted a pass from Brandi Emerson with 3:59 left in the half, and Hansen got her second goal in the second half, with help from Sturgis and Kelsey Pequinot.
SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 5, BOOTHBAY 2: Kathryn Ventrella scored two goals to pace the Phoenix (10-0) past the Seahawks (4-5) at Livermore Falls.
Alex Clarke and Sarah Caron scored for Boothbay.
VOLLEYBALL
BIDDEFORD 3, FALMOUTH 2: Mariah Hebert was 18 for 18 serving and had 45 assists as the Tigers (7-3) defeated the Yachtsmen (6-3) at Biddeford.
Autumn Dube had 14 kills and eight blocks for Biddeford, which won the second set 29-27 after trailing 12-2.
GREELY 3, SCARBOROUGH 1: Maggie Bradley led the Rangers with 19 kills and five aces as Greely downed Scarborough at Cumberland.
Jordan Copp finished with four kills for the Rangers (10-0), and Danielle Cimino had 15 assists and two aces.
Scarborough was led by Brittany Bona with 15 kills and Lauren Piper with two aces.
