Old Orchard Beach is getting an addition to its library as well as a variety of changes to its Town Council.

By a margin of 11 votes, the Town Council will expand by two, to seven members, six of them to three-year terms and one to be contested annually. The unofficial vote total was 1,572 to 1,561.

Voters favored limiting councilors’ terms to seven consecutive years, 2,144 to 979. The changes will be phased in over a two-year period beginning in 2012.

Incumbent Sharri MacDonald and Michael Coleman won a five-way race for a pair of two-year terms on the council.

MacDonald received 1,874 votes and Coleman 1,327. Dana Furtado got 1,133 votes, Maria Pastulovic 842 and Eriq Manson 415.

Gary Curtis ran unopposed for re-election to a three-year term on the Regional School Unit 23 Board of Directors.

By large margins, voters approved changes to the town charter and authorized a $2 million bond to construct an addition to the Edith Belle Libby Memorial Library. The library vote was 2,281 to 893.
