Arrests
11/13 at 2 a.m. Shawn Williams, 33, of Higgins Road, West Bath, was arrested on a warrant by Officer Brett McIntire on Middle Street and on charges of operating under the influence and operating after suspension.
11/13 at 4:20 a.m. Matthew Gaspar, 23, of Brunswick, was arrested by Sagadahoc Sheriff’s Department Deputy Mark Anderson on charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, operating under the influence, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, refusing to submit to arrest and violation of conditions of release.
Summonses
11/13 Matthew Gaspar, 23, of Brunswick, was issued a summons on charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, driving to endanger, failure to stop for a law enforcement officer, criminal mischief, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, and violation of conditions of release.
Running the gambit
11/13 at 4:05 a.m. Sgt. Michael Lathrop reportedly saw a dark colored pickup speed by on Oak Grove Avenue. After a chase, Lathrop ultimately reached the empty, damaged pickup off the road at Blinds Crossing. Sagadahoc Sheriff’s Department Deputy Mark Anderson, who assisted in the search for the driver, drove down Creekside Drive, near the accident scene, and saw the driver in a second vehicle, a white pickup, which drove toward Anderson and stopped about 50 feet in front of his cruiser. Matthew Gaspar, 23, of Brunswick, reportedly jumped out of the driver’s seat and tried to flee, but Anderson tackled him. Gaspar was arrested, and his charges from both the Sagadahoc Sheriff’s and Bath Police departments included unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, driving to endanger, failure to stop for a law enforcement officer, operating under the influence, violating conditions of release, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. Gaspar had been charged in two August incidents for taking vehicles.
