Community Thanksgiving dinner, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., offered by Wayside Food Programs and United Way of Greater Portland and many supporters. Held at the Portland Club, 156 State St., Portland. Free.
Free meal for those in need, noon to 2 p.m., all are welcome; donations accepted to benefit local charities. Thatchers Restaurant, South Portland.
16th annual free dinner, noon to 3 p.m., V.F.W. Hall, Post 832, Peary Terrace, South Portland. For reservations or to arrange transportation, call 767-2575 after 3 p.m.
Saturday
Chop suey, lobster chowder, salad, 4:30 to 6 p.m., a family-friendly movie follows. Christ Chapel, 37 Northern Pines Road, off Route 85, Raymond. Free.
Baked bean supper, 5 to 6:30 p.m., First Parish Congregational Church, 116 Main St., Yarmouth. Adults: $7; children: $3.
