Marine Corps Pfc Matthew J. Rague, son of Cindy Rague of Scarborough and Robert Rague of Davie, Fla., completed the Basic Engineer Equipment Electrical Systems Technician course. Rague is a 2010 graduate of Cheverus High School and joined the Marine Corps in February.

Marine Corps Pfc Justin M. Handy, a 2008 graduate of Bonny Eagle High School recently graduated from the Basic Water Support Technician Course while assigned as a student at Marine Corps Engineer School in Camp Lejeune, N.C. Handy joined the Marine Corps in February.

Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Alexander L. Saindon, son of Kerstin Palmer of Lisbon Falls and Stephen Saindon of Richmond, recently received a citation for outstanding performance of his duties while serving aboard USS Helena (SSN 725), Naval Station Norfolk, Va. Saindon is a 2008 graduate of Brunswick High School and joined the Navy in November 2009.

Scott Lewis has been promoted to Major in the Maine Army National Guard for superior performance as the Director of the Maine State Partnership Program with Montenegro.

Lewis has held leadership positions in the 133rd Engineer Battalion, 240th Engineer Group and Joint Force Headquarters, Maine Army National Guard. He served in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004-2005 as Executive Office for Bravo Company, 133rd Engineer Battalion. The unit received the Meritorious Unit Commendation from the Department of Defense. He also commanded the 262nd Engineer Company, Maine Army National Guard.

Lewis graduated from Lake Region High School and University of Southern Maine. He lives in Monmouth with his wife, Lynn, and their two children.
