PORTLAND — The Maine Conservation Voters ninth annual Evening for the Environment discussion will run from 5 p. m. to 7: 30 p. m. Wednesday at the Abromson Center on the University of Southern Maine’s Portland campus.

A panel will discuss how politicians work across party lines to protect Maine’s environment.

Susan Sharon of the Maine Public Broadcasting Network will moderate a legislative panel discussion of risks to the environment and opportunities to engage in bipartisan efforts to protect Maine’s air, land, water and wildlife.

Panelists include Sen. Chris Rector, R-Thomaston; Sen. Seth Goodall, D- Richmond; Rep. Bob Duchesne; DHudson; and Rep. Meredith Strang Burgess, R-Cumberland.

On Wednesday, Maine Conservation Voters also will present the Harrison L. Richardson Environmental Leadership award to Harry Dwyer, a logger and business owner from Fayette, “ for his bold actions this year to demonstrate that a clean environment and a strong economy go hand in hand,” a release from the organization states.
