Greater Portland Chapter of Maine Genealogical Society meeting, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 29 Ocean House Road, Cape Elizabeth (Route 77). Social time is at 12:30 p.m. and program begins at 1. Frank Millett will lead the group on a journey through several generations of his family in the Kennebunk area and share his research found in The Eastern Star (1878-1915), now the York County Coast Star. Cape Jinglefest, sponsored by Cape Elizabeth High School Project Graduation. The event is a way to celebrate the coming of winter. Check-in is at 3 p.m., with “Jingle Time” at 3:30 p.m. Revelers will don jingle bells on their shoes and take a short, festive walk together down Route 77 to Scott Dyer Road before turning into the Pond Cove School. The cost is $10 per person and $40 maximum per family before Dec. 1, and $15 per person and $50 maximum per family after Dec. 1. Wednesday, Dec. 7
Scarborough Historical Society meeting, at 7:30 p.m. A brief business meeting is held and followed by a presentation. This meeting is to be held at the society’s museum and meeting room located at 647 Route1 (adjacent to the Dunstan Fire Station). All monthly meetings are free and open to the public. The presentations last about an hour. The presentation will feature Jara Goodrich. She is on the faculty of the music school at the University of Southern Maine. As a harpist, Goodrich will perform traditional Christmas music.
Thursday, Dec. 8
Sacred Stories, from immigrant and refugee college students, 4 p.m., South Portland City Hall. Come hear the students share their journeys and lessons.
