Sweetgrass Farm’s holiday bazaar is this weekend

Sweetgrass Farm Winery & Distillery will host its second annual holiday bazaar from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Sample artisan cheeses and other local foods paired with Sweetgrass’ own wines and spirits. Appleton Creamery will bring some of its cheeses, while Guini Ridge Farm will be cooking its popular Merguez sausage, a traditional North African lamb sausage.

Cali-Mandy Fudge will bring candy-cane fudge and other seasonal confections. Half Moon Farm will have a selection of chutneys, crackers and crafts.

In addition to the food offerings, local crafters will be selling items such as handspun, hand-dyed yarns made from Maine sheeps’ wool, float rope baskets and balsam fir wreaths.

Portland Harbor Hotel ice bar set for Jan. 26-28

The Portland Harbor Hotel’s annual ice bar has been scheduled for Jan. 26-28.

Tickets are $15 to $21 per person, and are available through brownpapertickets.com. Tickets will not be available at the door.

This year’s ice bar will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. each day and feature two martini bars as well as local beer. Admission includes live music and food.

Events in a holiday theme on tap at Whole Foods

Whole Foods Market, 2 Somerset St., has several holiday-themed events scheduled during the next few weeks.

From 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, there will be a holiday wine tasting that includes cheese samples and seasonal treats. ID is required.

From 6:30 to 8 p.m. Dec. 14, Tanja Kunz, the store’s healthy-eating specialist, will share recipes for healthy holiday treats that are not made with processed foods. The class costs $5 per person, and registration and payment are required in advance. Stop by the store or call customer service at 774-7711 to reserve a spot.

From 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Dec. 17, there will be a children’s gingerbread-cookie decorating event in the store’s cafe for ages 12 and under. The party will include holiday face painting with non-toxic, washable face paint. Registration is not required, but children must be accompanied by an adult.

Nonantum Resort weekend event to rain Fire and Ice

The Nonantum Resort will hold its annual Fire and Ice event from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Tickets are $20, which includes live music and food from local restaurants. There will be fireworks at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Outdoor cocktails will be available at an ice bar both nights. A photo booth will also be on site.
