NEWCASTLE

The Heartwood Theater Company will stage two performances of “Pinocchio” at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday in Poe Theater at Lincoln Academy.

The production is the same one the company has performed at various schools throughout Maine this fall.

A Heartwood release describes the show as follows:

“ Suitable for all ages, ‘Pinocchio’ offers a wonderful opportunity for family entertainment at great family prices. A perfect length for young audiences, this 60-minute, original version of the beloved errant puppet tale sparkles with humor, wit, and energy. A veteran cast of teacher-performers deliver this over-the-top show in commedia dell’arte style, changing costumes and props constantly, onstage all the while.”

Cirkestra, a Boston based band scoring and performing music for big circuses, will perform the score composed by Peter Bufano.

Tickets cost $5 for students or $8 for adults. Reservations are strongly recommended. Call 563-1373 or email boxoffice@heartwoodtheater.org.
