PORTLAND — Spencer Cooke of Cheverus, Louis DiTomasso of Wells and Jordan Hersom of Leavitt are the finalists for the James J. Fitzpatrick Trophy which goes to the top senior high school football player in the state based on voting by coaches and the media.

They were the top three vote-getters from a field of 12 semifinalists. One of them, the top vote-getter, will be awarded the trophy at the annual banquet on Jan. 15 at the Holiday Inn By the Bay in Portland.

Cooke played running back and defensive back for the Stags, who won their second straight Class A state title. DiTomasso was a fullback and linebacker for the Warriors, who captured the Class B title. Hersom was a quarterback anddefensive back for Leavitt, which lost to Wells in the ‘B’ championship game.

The Fitzpatrick Trophy has been awarded annually since 1971.
