BRIAN MCALOON, Marissa Sheltra and Fran Page appear in “The Christmas Bride,” an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ “The Battle of Life,” through Wednesday in a Snowlion Repertory Company production at Lucid Stage in Portland.
The production presents a musical version of Charles Dickens’ story “The Battle of Life,” adapted by M.K. Wolfe.
A Snowlion release describes the show as follows:
“The Christmas Bride” is a joyous holiday tale of love lost and found, home and family, faith and forgiveness. From the bright English countryside to the dark underbelly of London town, this charming musical follows young Marion Jeddler on her journey of discovery through a world filled with delightful Dickensian characters and featuring a lively musical theater score by New York composer Noel Katz.
Directed and choreographed by Al D’Andrea with musical direction by Jim Colby, “The Christmas Bride” features a cast of Maine’s brightest talents, including Marissa Sheltra, Elizabeth Lardie, Fran Page, Cindy O’Neil, John Ambrose, Brian McAloon, Bill Vaughan, Annie O’Brien, Jaymie Chamberlain, William McCue and New York actor ( and Brunswick native) David Arthur Bachrach, who appeared in the original New York production.
Performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. today; 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday; 3 p.m. Sunday; 8 p.m. Tuesday; and 8 p.m. Wednesday.
The 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday will be interpreted for individuals who understand American Sign Language.
Tickets cost $17 for adults or $ 15 for students and seniors. The show is appropriate for all ages.
