SACO – Three people were injured in two separate accidents tonight.

Saco police said the first accident occurred on Spring Hill Road about 8:30 p.m.

Daniel McClurken, 36, of Waterboro told police he was going around a curve on the road when a deer ran in front of his car. When he swerved to miss the deer, McClurken said, he lost control of his car and went off the road and over an embankement, causing the car to roll over.

McClurken was not hurt, but his two passengers – Richard Olin, 29, of Saco and Paul Myers, 40, of North Carolina – were injured.

Saco police said both were taken to Southern Maine Medical Center for evaluation.

No charges are expected, police said.

The second accident took place about 9:15 p.m. on Main Street at the intersection with Ocean Park Road.

Police said Shawna Alexander, 17, of Waterboro was headed north on Main Street when she ran a red light and hit two cars turning left onto Main Street from Ocean Park Road.

Police said they believe Alexander may have been distracted by her cellphone, but no charges were filed Friday night while an investigation continues.

Alexander’s car hit a car driven by Sara Frost, 17, of Saco and another driven by Danny Stanichuk, 51, of Waterville.

Police said Alexander suffered minor injuries and was taken to SMMC for evaluation. The other drivers were not hurt.
