Wednesday, Dec. 28: Schoolhouse Arts Center will hold auditions for an Amateur Kids Stand-up Comedy Show from 6-8 p.m. Shows will be presented in our new Black Box theater beginning on Jan. 14. Those auditioning should come prepared to perform before a small group. Performers must be at under 18 years of age. Content should be appropriate for kids of any age. Auditions will be held at the Schoolhouse Arts Center, located at 16 Richville Road (Route 114) in Standish, just north of the intersection of Route 114 and Route 35. Tuesday, Jan. 3: Windham’s monthly grief support meeting, hosted by VNA Home Health & Hospice, will offer excerpts from Dr. Alan Wolfelt book, “The Wilderness of Grief.” Group meets 6-7:30 p.m. at the North Windham Union Church, 723 Roosevelt Trail, Route 302, Windham. This is an open group for anyone grieving the death of a loved one. This group is sponsored by the North Windham Union Church UCC Mission Committee.

Jan. 3: The Southern Maine Agency on Aging will offer a Medicare seminar and counseling for the Lakes Region at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church at 919 Roosevelt Trail, Windham. A “Welcome to Medicare” seminar is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon. Also, there will be one-on-one counseling with volunteer Medicare advocates available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Every Tuesday a Benefit Specialist will also be available at the church from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition to Medicare assistance, Owen O’Donnell will provide benefit counseling (tax and rent rebate, food stamps, fuel assistance, etc.) for area residents. Call to register for the upcoming seminar or to make a one-on-one appointment at 396-6500.

Saturday, Jan. 7: The annual Richard Nickerson Scholarship Concert takes place at the Windham High School starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are $8 for students and seniors and $10 for adults and are available at the door. Snow dates are Jan. 8 and 14.

Saturday, Jan. 7: From 3-6 p.m., Peck’s Family Acupuncture in Waterboro will be holding a community style acupuncture clinic fundraising event for Kendyll Martin, a sophomore at Bonny Eagle High School, who will be attending a Junior Achievement conference in China this summer. Jan. 12 and 26: Windham/Raymond’s Project Graduation 2012 presents Dancing with the Staff. Ten couples, all teachers or staff members representing each school throughout the Windham/Raymond communities, will compete for the coveted title of Champion! Ticket prices are $10 for adults, $5 for students and are available at the schools or by calling Sandie at 892-9463.

Jan. 21-March 3: The Aquatics Department at Saint Joseph’s College hosts swim classes on Saturdays from 9:15-10 a.m., or 10:15-11 a.m., for Levels 2-5. The cost is $75. Private lessons are available on Saturdays from 8:30-9 a.m., for $140, or on Saturday, Jan. 7 and 14, at 8:30 a.m., 9:15 a.m., or 10 a.m., for $40.
