New Year’s Day Hike

1 p.m. in Kezar Falls

Join Healthy Sacopee for its 14th annual New Year’s Day Hike. Meet at 1 p.m. at the Sacopee Valley Health Center, 49 Summer St., one block off Route 160 in Kezar Falls. The hike will start at 1:30 p.m. and cover two miles in the woods. Leashed dogs are welcome. No cost. Call 625-3082.

Gray Ghost Fly Tiers

6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Yarmouth

The Gray Ghost fly tiers will demonstrate and teach how to tie flies. Materials and equipment are free for those new to fly tying. Meet at the First Parish Church, Yarmouth, 116 Main St. All welcome. Call 749-1593.

Follow Animal Tracks

1 to 2 p.m. in Hinckley

How do animals survive in winter, and where do critters go? Find out on a winter trail walk at the L.C. Bates museum. Children will make track flash cards to bring home for easy identification. The museum is in Hinckley on Route 201 at the Good Will-Hinckley campus. Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for youths. Call 238-4250.

Free Guided Bird Walks

8 a.m. in Freeport

Geared toward birders of all skill levels, free guided walks are offered every Saturday morning at Freeport Wild Bird Supply. Walks meet at the store, 541 Route 1. Usually, walks involve a short car-pool trip to a local site of seasonal interest. Bring your binoculars or borrow a pair, and come out to see some birds and learn about their habits.
