Minor leaguer Ryan Flaherty will be at Frozen Ropes on Wednesday to lead a hitting clinic. Flaherty will work with three groups: ages 8-11, from 9:30 to 11 a.m.; ages 12-14, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and ages 15-18, from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
Seattle Mariners pitcher Charlie Furbush will conduct a pitching clinic on Jan. 21, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. for ages 8-12 and from 5 to 6:30 p.m. for ages 13-18.
The cost for each clinic is $30 for members or $40 for non-members. Space is limited, so call 878-2600 or visit frozenropes.com.
St. Joseph’s College will host its Hot Stove Auction at 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 15 in the school’s dining hall in Standish. Seattle Mariners pitcher Charlie Furbush, a former St. Joseph’s player, will be the keynote speaker and will signing autographs during a designated time period. Pre-approved items for signing will be on hand, but fans are asked not to bring outside memorabilia, as those items will not be signed.
Many items will be up for bid, including tickets to sporting events, memorabilia and golf outings. All proceeds from the raffles, silent auction and live auction will go toward the cost of the Monks’ spring trip to Florida.
Admission is free.
Maine Elite Lacrosse will hold a clinic for coaches of kindergarten through eighth grade on Jan. 28 at its new indoor facility, 1173 Riverside St. in Portland.
The clinic will take place from 9 a.m. to noon and include both on-field and classroom portions. It will cover fundamental stick skills, individual and team offense and defense, clearing, riding, man-up offense and man-down defense.
