Hike in the Park 2 p.m. in Freeport

Wolfe’s Neck Woods State Park offers nature programs year-round every weekend. This week’s program focuses on the different ways that nature prepares for winter. Meet at the benches at the end of the second parking lot. No reservations needed. Free with park admission, which is $1 for ages 5 to 11 and $3 for ages 12 to 64. Snowshoeing At Night 5:30 p.m. in Waterville

Every Wednesday this winter, Inland Hospital in Waterville will lead snowshoe hikes on land owned by the hospital and the city. Last year, the inaugural Waterville weekly snowshoe outings drew a few dozen. All are welcome. No charge. Wear warm clothes. Meet at the trail head behind Inland Hospital, 200 Kennedy Memorial Drive. Stories of Adventure 6 p.m. in Pinkham Notch, N.H.

The Appalachian Mountain Club is again offering its international dinner and adventure series. This involves a cuisine from another culture and a guest speaker who tells an adventure from that region of the world. The family-style dinner features four courses. Guests may BYOB. This Wednesday evening’s program features the cuisine of Romania with a talk about the farms and forests of Romania. All programs are free and open to the public. Dinner costs $28. Trails Workshop in Auburn

The Androscoggin Land Trust is hosting a work session on trail opportunities in the Lewiston-Auburn area. A recent report from the National Park Service identified the Androscoggin River as a New England priority. This work session will help the land trust and town officials look at priorities for short- and long-term projects. The work session will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn. More Moonlit Hikes 6:30 p.m. in Orland

The Great Pond Mountain Conservation Trust is hosting moonlit hikes and snowshoe treks this winter. This hike will be 3 to 4 miles with a hill climb, traveling to Wildlands picnic area on the Dead River. The trek will end with a bonfire and cocoa. Meet at the Craig Brook National Fish Hatchery. Bird Walks 8 a.m. in Freeport

Free guided walks are offered every Saturday morning at Freeport Wild Bird Supply. Walks meet at the store at 541 Route 1. Usually, walks involve a short carpool trip to a local site of seasonal interest. Come out to see some birds and learn about their habits. For more information, call 865-6000.
