The Portland Elks Lodge will be holding their annual foul shooting contest at 9 a.m. Sunday at Catherine McAuley High School. There are three age groups for boys and girls. Ages 8 & 9; 10 & 11, and 12 & 13. Winners will advance to the regional shoot-off at 9 a.m. on Jan. 15, also at McAuley. For information contact Bruce Jordan, local hoop shoot director, at 773-6426, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
There will be two new Seacoast United Soccer Teams this summer for amateur players. The teams will compete in the National Premier Soccer League and the Women’s Premier Soccer League. The leagues are designed for recent graduates and local college players, but there is no age limit.
Tryouts for the NPSL will be held Sunday and Jan. 15 from 1 to 3 p.m. Tryouts for the WPSL will be held Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. and Jan. 10 from 1 to 3 p.m. All tryouts will be held at the Topsham Dome in Topsham.
