BIDDEFORD – Kelley Paradis’ free throw with 3.5 seconds remaining gave the University of New England a 76-75 women’s basketball victory over Bates on Wednesday night.

With the score tied at 75, the Bobcats (5-6) missed a shot with nine seconds left. The Nor’easters (7-2) worked the rebound just inside half court before calling a timeout with 4.8 seconds left. After missing the first free throw, Paradis made the second for the win.

Paradis finished with 23 points. Meredith Kelly scored 18 for Bates.

COLBY 72, WENTWORTH 39: Aarika Ritchie scored 14 points in Waterville, and Jill Vaughan and Rachael Mack had 12 points and 12 rebounds each to drive the 23rd-ranked Mules (8-1) over Wentworth Institute of Technology (0-9).

ROCHESTER COLLEGE 70, SMCC 30: Sam Tomaschko had 19 points to lead the Warriors past the Seawolves at South Portland.

Marissa Welch had 13 points and nine boards for SMCC.

ST. JOSEPH’S 54, LYNDON STATE 31: Megan McDevitt had 11 points and six rebounds, and Ashley Geel added eight points, 11 boards and four blocks to help the Monks (5-5) down the Hornets (2-6) at Lyndonville, Vt.

(1) BAYLOR 90, MISSOURI 46: Odyssey Sims scored 22 points as the host Bears (14-0) topped the Tigers (10-2) in the Big 12 opener for both teams.

(2) UCONN 79, WEST VIRGINIA 60: Bria Harley scored 18 points as the Huskies (12-1, 2-0 Big East) beat the Mountaineers (10-4, 1-1) to extend their NCAA-record home winning streak to 93 games.

(3) NOTRE DAME 74, SETON HALL 36: Skylar Diggins scored 14 points as the visiting Fighting Irish (14-1, 2-0 Big East) beat the Pirates (7-9, 0-2) for their 11th straight win.

KANSAS STATE 71, (8) TEXAS A&M 69: Mariah White fought through traffic and banked in a runner with 1.6 seconds left in overtime to lift the Wildcats (10-3, 1-0 Big 12) to a win over the Aggies (9-3, 0-1) at Manhattan, Kan.

ROCHESTER COLLEGE 87, SMCC 51: Dramel Hogan had 23 points to lead the Warriors past the Seawolves at South Portland.

Emmanuel Donalson scored 13 points for SMCC.

(1) SYRACUSE 87, PROVIDENCE 73: Brandon Triche scored 16 points, hitting three straight 3-pointers early in the second half as the Orange (16-0, 3-0 Big East) beat the host Friars (11-5, 0-3). 

TEMPLE 78, (5) DUKE 73: Khalif Wyatt scored 22 points to help the Owls (10-3) upend the Blue Devils (12-2) at Philadelphia.

(9) GEORGETOWN 73, (20) MARQUETTE 70: Jason Clark scored 26 points and Hollis Thompson’s tiebreaking 3-pointer with less than 30 seconds left capped a comeback from a 17-point deficit, helping the host Hoyas (13-1, 3-0 Big East) beat the Golden Eagles (12-3, 1-1).
