The annual Hands Around the Capitol Memorial will take place Saturday at several locations in Augusta. The event recognizes the 39 years since the enactment of Roe v. Wade and is sponsored by Maine Right to Life. The schedule includes a 10 a.m. Mass, celebrated by Bishop Richard Malone, at St. Mary’s Church, 41 Western Ave., and concurrently, there will be a prayer service at Penney Memorial United Baptist Church, 393 Water St., behind Walgreen’s. A rally, with exhibits and refreshments, will begin at 11:15 a.m. at St. Michael’s Parish Gym. Participants should meet at 11 a.m. The march will leave at 12:15 p.m., heading to the Capitol, where the hand-to-hand assembly will take place at 12:30 p.m. The bishop will ring the Capitol Bell 39 times, for each year since Roe v. Wade was enacted.
