NEW FACES
• Chase Wakeling was hired at A Total Look Day Spa. Wakeling has more than 15 years of experience as a salon owner, stylist and colorist. He spent the past 10 years perfecting his own coloring method and teaching other cosmetologists across the country the best methods for hair coloring. He is one of only 140 certified master colorists through the Haircolorists Association.
• David Waldecker of South Portland and Kallie Newcomb of Scarborough were hired as sales and leasing agents at Prime Mercedes in Scarborough. Waldecker studied at the University of Maine at Orono. Newcomb studied communications at the University of Southern Maine.
• Mary Costigan was hired at Bernstein Shur and will serve in the firm’s energy, environmental, municipal and regulatory practice groups. Costigan will focus on municipal law, environmental permitting and compliance. She was previously the associate corporation counsel for the city of Portland, providing legal advice and representation for staff and the City Council on a wide variety of municipal matters.
• Ted Smolenski was hired as vice president of strategic portfolio planning at Putney Inc. Smolenski will lead Putney’s portfolio process to analyze and recommend drug products for development, license and acquisition.
• Penelope St. Louis, former director of planning and urban development for the city of Portland, joined the MaineHealth system as corporate counsel. St. Louis will be involved in contracting, compliance and health care-related regulations at the federal, state and local level. She will also serve as senior project adviser to Maine Medical Center.
• Philip Bouchard of Biddeford joined the sales team at Classic Flooring on Route 1 in Scarborough.
• Eric Odencrantz was hired as a field technician at Unified Technologies Inc., an IT services provider in Portland.
• Kelley Green-Chartier of Turner joined Perfect Image Salon and Spa as a licensed aesthetician and nail technician. Green-Chartier has more than four years of salon experience. She specializes in Dermalogica skin care treatment.
• Eric D’Elia was hired at Shamrock Sports & Entertainment as an account manager. He previously worked for the PGA Nationwide Tour in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fl.
PROMOTIONS
• Christine VanVoorhis of South Portland was promoted to vice president of claims at Custom Disability Solutions in South Portland. VanVoorhis joined the firm in March 2007 and has more than 30 years of experience in the industry.
• Beth Libby of Limerick, Lynn Vigneault of Biddeford, Andrea Todd of Westbrook and Josh Fearon of Saco were promoted to vice presidents at P&C Insurance in Biddeford. Libby, who joined the firm in 1985, was named vice president of commercial services and human resources. Vigneault, who joined P&C in 1987, was named vice president of personal lines. Todd, who has 25 years of experience in the insurance industry, was named vice president of commercial development. She joined P&C in 2004. Fearon, who joined P&C in 2006, was named vice president commercial development.
• Eric Cyr of Gorham was promoted to president of AAA Northern New England. Cyr was previously vice president of automotive services for AAA Northern New England.
GENERAL
• Carol Emerson announced the recent launch of Custom House Business Services, LLC, a consulting business specializing in accounting, human resources, operations and personalized business coaching. Emerson has more than 25 years of experience working in small businesses with clients throughout southern and mid-coast Maine.
• SMMC PrimeCare Physicians has added a second physician office at the former University of New England University Health Care Center at Route 1 and Ross Road in Saco.
• The Portland Regional Chamber has relocated to 443 Congress St. The renovated space has offices for its nine employees, a conference room, library, and boardroom that accommodates up to 45 people. The office also features state-of-the-art systems and programming to reduce energy consumption and carbon footprint.
BOARD APPOINTMENTS
• Mary Giftos of Cape Elizabeth, Willis Hidell of Cape Porpoise and Dorothy Stapleton of Greenwich, Conn., and Kennebunkport, were elected to the Equest Foundation’s board of trustees. Giftos is a retired hospital chaplain and volunteers with the Hospice of Southern Maine, the Southern Maine Agency on Aging and Therapy Dogs Inc. Hidell is general partner at HRH Real Estate Partnership. Stapleton has been active in many philanthropies in the United States and abroad.
• Suzie Levenson Berzinis of Falmouth was named president of The Cedars Auxiliary board. Berzinis has served on the board since 2005 and was the recipient of the AJHSA National Young Leadership Award in 2010.
AWARDS
• St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston recently received the 2011 Celebrating Excellence in Quality Award. The award is given annually to long-term care providers that are making significant strides towards achieving and maintaining quality. St. Mary’s was recognized for its efforts to reduce rehospitalization rates.
• The Girl Scouts of Maine recently honored Pam Hurley-Moser as its 2012 Woman of Distinction at its 15th annual dinner and auction. The event raised nearly $100,000 to support Girl Scout programming throughout Maine.
