PORTLAND — Preti Flaherty recently announced that the firm’s partnership has named Jeffrey Talbert and Todd Griset as partners.

According to a news release, Talbert previously practiced as of counsel with the environmental, climate strategy and litigation groups in Portland. Griset previously practiced as an associate with the energy and climate strategy groups in Augusta.

Talbert represents clients in New England and nationally in matters involving a wide range of federal and state environmental laws in environmental litigation, permitting, compliance and environmental aspects of corporate transactions. He was awarded the EPA’s Gold Medal for Exceptional Service in 2010.

Talbert was previously a trial attorney in the Environmental Enforcement Section of the U.S. Department of Justice, Environment & Natural Resources Division in Washington, D.C. He earned his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School in 2000 and his undergraduate degree from Kalamazoo College in 1997. He is a resident of Portland.

Griset helps clients, ranging from developers of energy projects to industrial and commercial energy consumers, make decisions on energy and utilities matters and maximize their opportunities in power markets across the continent. He advises clients on permitting and regulatory affairs, as well as transactions relating to infrastructure, manufacturing and energy assets.

Griset is a frequent author and speaker on energy issues. He authors the “Energy Policy Update” blog and has been published in a peer-reviewed law journal on renewable ocean energy. His writings appear regularly in publications, including the Offshore Wind Wire and Electric Light & Power.

He earned his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2002 and his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College in 1999. He also earned a master of environmental studies from the University of Pennsylvania in 2006. He is a resident of Bath.
