BRUNSWICK — Dorothy " Mary" Wallace, age 88 of Brunswick, formerly of Harpswell, died Monday, January 16, 2012 at the Hawthorne House in Freeport.

Dorothy was born in Boothbay Harbor on December 22, 1923, a daughter of Clarence and Irene Cook Pennell. She attended Portland schools and graduated from Portland High School.

She served as an officer of Wallace Marine in Harpswell which later became Great Island Boatyard, and later worked in the Receiving department at Sears in Brunswick for many years.

She attended the Berean Baptist Church in Brunswick, was a member of the Salvation Army, and worked with Vocational Region # 10 in Brunswick. Dorothy also enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

She is predeceased by her husband, Lindoll E. Wallace who died on September 4, 1984.

Surviving are three sons, James L. Wallace and his fiancé, Donna Rice of Phippsburg, William C. Wallace and his wife, Norma of South Carolina, and Benjamin A. Wallace and his wife, Jody of Gray, ME; two daughters, Mary H. Wallace and her partner, Jeff of Sparta, TN, and Amy E. Goodenow and her husband, Joey of Harpswell; three sisters, Betty Webb and Charlotte Lemont, both of Brunswick, and Geraldine Dial of New Hampshire; and 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10am Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the Berean Baptist Church in Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Cundy’s Harbor Volunteer Fire Department, C/O Burr Taylor, 45 Taylor Rd, Harpswell, ME 04079, or to the Berean Baptist Church, 15 Cumberland Street, Brunswick, ME 04011. Arrangements are in care of the Brackett Funeral Home, Brunswick.
