It’s that time of year when Girl Scouts are making the rounds with their order forms, so lots of people are thinking about cookies.

Krystina Castella, author of “Crazy About Cookies: 300 Scrumptious Recipes for Every Occasion & Craving” (Sterling, $17.95), was once a Girl Scout who loved cookies so much, she sold 1,000 boxes. Even as an adult, she is so, well, crazy about cookies that her book contains a chapter on cookies you can make for breakfast and brunch. Her cinnamon swirls look like tiny cinnamon rolls, and her waffle cookies can be baked in your waffle iron and drizzled with maple syrup.

“Crazy About Cookies” includes the usual chapters on holiday cookies and the classics, like oatmeal-raisin and peanut butter cookies, but it also features recipes for energy cookies and bars, “dinner party cookies” and “cocktail party cookies” spiked with sweet liquors — think rum ball kabobs served on slender skewers.

This is one of the most creative cookie books I’ve seen in a while, so if you’re a cookie monster, check it out and think about serving some beer and mixed-nut cookies at your next game party.
