BATH — A West Bath man suffered minor injuries after crashing a pickup truck into a utility pole along High Street on Thursday afternoon.

Lt. Stan Cielinski of the Bath Police Department said today that, following the incident, officers summonsed the driver, Duane Toothaker, 41, of West Bath, for operating with a suspended license.

A Bath Rescue ambulance transported Toothaker to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick for treatment after he reportedly struck a Central Maine Power pole near 24 High St., causing an estimated $4,000 in damage to his 1997 Dodge Ram pickup truck.

Cielinski said Toothaker veered onto the shoulder while distancing his vehicle from a car in the opposite lane. His vehicle careened into a ditch along the road.

A Mid Coast hospital spokesman said Toothaker was discharged without being admitted to the hospital.

In a separate incident reported shortly after 8 a.m. today, a Chevrolet pickup crashed into a tree, resulting in “a lot of front-end damage” to the vehicle.

Cielinski said there were no injuries indicated in the initial reports.
