NEW FACES
• Banak Thiwat, Sarah Coughlin and Courtney Stover joined Creative Work Systems of Portland, Saco and Auburn as life skills coaches.
• Liza Tarr was hired as a communications coordinator at Hebron Academy. Tarr, of Portland, will be responsible for overseeing the academy’s outbound marketing vehicles and managing internal and external communications for the school. Tarr was previously an account coordinator at a public relations agency in Boston.
• Stephen Berthiaume was hired as a senior electrical designer at Swiftcurrent Engineering Services in Yarmouth. Berthiaume is a master electrician with 25 years experience.
• Doug Metchick was hired as chief executive officer at Morris Yachts. Metchick most recently served as executive director at Dory Ventures, a private equity firm specializing in recreational products and consumer goods.
• Rachel McAllian was hired as a personal services supervisor at Spectrum Generations’ Bridges Help at Home division. McAllian previously worked at the MaineCare Pharmacy help desk.
• Anthony Cataldi was hired as a senior vice president and chief operating officer at Sanford Institution for Savings. Cataldi has held numerous senior leadership positions at various financial institutions in both New York and North Carolina, most recently as COO at Macon Bank in Franklin, N.C.
• Dr. John Cederna has rejoined St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center as a plastic surgeon. Cederna had worked at St. Mary’s for 11 years as a plastic surgeon. His work at St. Mary’s will focus on reconstructive breast surgery following mastectomies and for congenital anomalies.
• Julie Ann Johnson joined the staff at A.T. Hutchins, LLC / Independent Death Care of Maine as a licensed funeral director and an administrative assistant. Johnson has more than 21 years of experience in Greater Portland, having worked at Hay & Peabody.
• Sandy Couch-Kelly was named president elect-elect of the Junior League of Portland. Couch-Kelly, of Falmouth, works for Westbrook Public Schools and serves on the board of directors of the Westbrook Food Pantry. She also volunteers for the Falmouth Education Foundation and Falmouth Elementary School.
• Dr. Stefan Andren has joined A Perfect Smile, a cosmetic and general dental practice in Falmouth. Andren attended dental school at the University of Minnesota and moved to Maine with his family in 2002. He is an active member in the dental community.
• Devan Porter and Neil Brown joined Prime Toyota in Saco as sales and leasing representatives. Porter, of Scarborough, attended the University of Maine at Orono to study mechanical engineering. Brown, of Dayton, studied horticulture at Southern Maine Community College.
• John Brewer, D.O. joined Mercy Hospitals Gorham Crossing facility as a primary care provider. Brewer, of Portland, completed his residency in family practice at the Osteopathic Hospital of Maine in Portland before opening a private practice in Gorham.
PROMOTIONS
• Jay Fortier was promoted to assistant vice president, member business services, at University Credit Union. Fortier, of Orono, joined UCU in July of 2009 with more than 20 years of experience in financial services. He was previously a business services officer.
• Amanda Simonds was promoted to a adult day break activities aide at Spectrum Generations’ Bridges Help at Home Division. Simonds was hired by Bridges as a personal support specialist in August.
AWARDS
• Linda McGill, an attorney and shareholder at Bernstein Shur, was recently honored as “Volunteer of the Decade” by the International Senior Lawyers Project. McGill, who has served as a volunteer with ISLP for eight years, is among five attorneys who were selected for the honor. As part of her service to ISLP, Linda traveled to New Delhi, India, including a prolonged five-month stay, to work with the Human Rights Law Network.
• Atlantic Pump & Engineering in Sanford was recently recognized as the ITT Goulds Pumps Industrial Products Group Distributor of the Year.
BOARD APPOINTMENTS
• Jared S. des Rosiers, a partner at Pierce Atwood, was appointed by the Maine Supreme Judicial Court as a trustee to the Lawyers’ Fund for Client Protection.
• Charles F. Dingman, a partner with the law firm Preti Flaherty, has agreed to serve as the 2012 chair of the Campaign for Justice. The campaign brings together lawyers from around the state to raise funds on behalf of six civil legal aid providers in Maine: Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic, Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project, Legal Services for the Elderly, Maine Equal Justice Partners, Maine Volunteer Lawyers Project and Pine Tree Legal Assistance.
• Denise Bisaillon was elected vice president of the Maine Public Health Association’s board of directors. Bisaillon is an associate professor and director at the University of New England’s College of Graduate Studies Public Health Programs and Information.
• Neil Korsen, M.D., of Steep Falls, was appointed to chair the national Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s Expert Panel on Integration Quality Measures. Korsen is the medical director of the MaineHealth Mental Health Integration Program.
